Local Girl Scouts earn horse badge with help from community

Hundreds of local Girl Scouts are earning their Horse Badge with the help of some amazing community partners! Girl Scout volunteer Katie La Touf spearheaded the program, which has quickly grown into a beloved Girl Scout program.

The Nativities to benefit Foothills Food Bank & Resource Center

Foothills Food Bank and Resource Center will sponsor the fifth annual Nativities of the World fund-raiser on Saturday, November 28 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and on Sunday, November 29 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. The nativity scenes, which will be displayed at Desert Foothills Library, will be on loan from local community residents.

Call for Volunteers for the Prickly Pedal on the Maricopa Trail Mountain Bike Race

The Maricopa Trail and Park Foundation is hosting the inaugural Prickly Pedal on the Maricopa Trail Mountain Bike Race on January 23, 2016.

The event begins at Lake Pleasant Regional Park and ends in the Town of Cave Creek (near the Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area). An estimated 300 riders will wind their way along the Maricopa Trail to complete the 50-mile course. Proceeds from the race will go toward the Maricopa Trail and Park Foundation.

The American Red Cross encourages individuals and organizations to give something that means something this winter by making a lifesaving blood donation or hosting a blood drive.

Blood donations often decline from now to New Year’s Day when holiday festivities pull people away from their donation appointments. Seasonal illnesses, such as colds and the flu, can also have a serious impact on blood donations

Farmer’s Market to benefit Brain Injury Alliance of Arizona

Market and online raise money for Annual Brain Injury Survivor Summer Camp

Phoenix– The Brain Injury Alliance of Arizona (BIAAZ) is partnering with Rehab Without Walls to host the Rehab Without Walls Farmer’s Market on Thursday, November 19, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the parking lot at 7227 N. 16th Street, Phoenix, Ariz. The Rehab Without Walls Farmer’s Market is the BIAAZ’s largest annual fundraising event for their summer camp, Camp Can Do.  The camp is a four day camp in Payson for adult survivors of brain injury.
