tree pruningThe basic goal of pruning, when required, should be to reveal and showcase the natural beauty and form of the tree or plant. Good pruning practices also enhance the health of plants and trees. On Saturday, March 14, Carefree Desert Gardens is pleased to present Steve Priebe, Certified Arborist and past president of the Arizona Community Tree Council.

Steve also worked for the City of Phoenix, Street Transportation Department, managing full-service landscape maintenance on the urban freeways throughout Phoenix. Steve’s presentation will focus on the best principles and practices for pruning our desert trees and shrubs as promoted by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), the organization that sanctions certified arborists and certified tree workers. The ISA certifies only those arborists who complete its rigorous six-point credentialing program. He will also share his top priorities for determining if a tree or shrub requires pruning.

The program will begin at 9:30 a.m. and run approximately until noon in the Town Council Chambers located in the U.S. Post Office Building, 100 Easy Street, Carefree. A $5 (or more) donation is appreciated to support these programs. For information call 480-488-3686.
