Rep. Salmon comments on Presidential Veto of S.1, the Keystone XL Pipeline Approval Act

Washington, D.C. — Rep. Matt Salmon (AZ-05) released the following statement after hearing that President Obama had vetoed S.1, the Keystone XL Pipeline Approval Act.

“As Americans are struggling to find work and afford to put food on their families’ tables, the President today sent the resounding message that he would rather play politics than move our nation forward.  The unprecedented delay in approving the Keystone XL pipeline can’t be attributed to caution or prudence.  Instead, the President is once again using the regulatory approval process as a mechanism to block items he personally opposes.

“Despite the findings of the U.S. Department of State that the pipeline is environmentally safe, and despite the numerous jobs it would create, the President still chose to veto this bill.  It’s sad that our nation’s economy comes second to this President.”
