About the concert version of South Pacific:
Rodgers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific: In Concert
Music by Richard Rodgers
Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II
Book by Oscar Hammerstein II and Joshua Logan
Adapted from the Pulitzer Prizewinning novel “Tales of the South Pacific” by James A. Michener
Concert adaptation by David Ives

Seasoned performer Brad Routh will step into the role of Emile de Becque, a mature, sophisticated French planter residing in the South Pacific. Love blooms between Emile and Nellie Forbush, a spunky young nurse from Arkansas. As he is courted for a dangerous military mission, Nellie struggles to overcome the prejudices of her upbringing that cause her to reject his marriage proposal.

Brad started his musical career in Illinois, but has lived in Phoenix since 1986. The audience may recognize him as Major General from ProMusica Arizona's production of Pirates of Penzance and from solo performances in several concerts. He was also the baritone soloist for the North Valley Symphony's Porgy and Bess medley. Prior to moving to Phoenix, Brad was a Regional Semi-finalist in the Metropolitan Opera's competition at the Lyric Opera House in Chicago. In addition to his musical endeavors, he is the CFO of Marketplace One, a world traveler, and family man. He has been married to his wife Carol for 38 years and has three children and five grandchildren.
