SPRINGERVILLE – The Apache-Sitgreaves lifted all current fire restrictions on the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests as of 8 a.m. on July 8, 2014. Fire restrictions for Stage I and Stage II have been lifted on all five ranger districts.

-Stage III restrictions (closure), exclusive to portions of the Lakeside RD, were lifted as of noon on Monday, July 7.

-There still is a closure order in effect in the area around the San Juan Fire, to the south and west of Vernon.  Please see the map associated with that closure order for exact information on closure information.

“We want to remind folks to always exercise caution when building campfires and using charcoal while visiting their national forests.  Always be sure and clean out around all fire sources, keep a bucket of water handy, just in case and thoroughly drown your campfire or charcoal when finished,” according to Jim Zornes, Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest Supervisor.
