Hunting – Part One

Until I got older, hunting had always been my most popular pastime. Fishing is still an ardent pastime when I have time to do it.

Bundy, the Senecas and fighting for sovereignty

In 1997, New York state declared war on the Seneca Nation reservations located upstate near Tonawanda. The war was over a declared power of the state to impose taxes on goods sold on native reservations. As enforcement, New York saw fit to shut down native businesses, cutting off petroleum and cigarette supplies to the Senecas.

Bundy vs. BLM – is it over?

Many are breathing a sigh of relief since the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) backed down in their attempt to relieve Cliven Bundy of his cattle and generational grazing lands in Clark County, Nevada.  However, the situation exposed a Pandora’s Box of crimes against the Constitution, as well as the will of the American people.

Obama and recess appointments: NLRB v. Canning

In January 2012, President Obama appointed three people to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), which is the federal regulatory board that determines whether or not certain labor practices have been unfair. Since 2008, it had been without the three of the five members that are required to conduct business. Just a month after the new appointments, the board determined that a bottling firm, Noel Canning Company, had committed an unfair labor practice in its dealings with the Teamsters Union.

From HIJAB to JIHAD

Did Minneapolis’s Democrat Mayor Betsy Hodges not get it?  This was no game, not dress-up playtime or carnival.  Then I wondered if she ever found occasion to dress in the ethnic clothing of her city’s other ethnicities – the Germans, Swedes, Norwegians, Danes, English, Poles, Irish, French Canadians, Native Americans?   Perhaps she had not done her homework about the Somali immigrants, and it took her only 100 days into office to don a hijab for an alliance.
