Storytimes at the Railroad Park are Back!
Thanks to the beautiful weather, the Scottsdale Public Library will be hosting Storytime at the McCormick Stillman Railroad Park the first Tuesday of the month from 10:30 – 11 a.m. through May 2014. Enjoy silly songs and fun stories with other library friends. Look for them on the lawn, south-east of the carousel.

Desert Foothills Christmas Pageant Dec. 7 – 8, 7 p.m. at Spur Cross Ranch
Admission and parking are free. Because there is no built-in seating, bring a blanket to sit up close on the ground or a portable chair. Wear warm clothes and walking shoes. A flashlight is useful because the Spur Cross Ranch is illuminated primarily by the moon and stars.

Snow, Cookies, Crafts, Santa, Tree Lighting and a Gun Slinging Show to boot! 
Holiday Harmony, Scottsdale’s annual Tree Lighting event is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7, from 3 to 8 p.m. in Old Town Scottsdale (Main and Brown to be exact).  What a great way to spend a Saturday and get into the holiday spirit – not to mention an excellent place to take your holiday card family photo!  For more event info visit www.scottsdaleaz.gov/parks/holiday.

Free Carefree Christmas Festival
10 a.m. – 9 p.m., Friday, Dec. 13 and Saturday, Dec. 14; 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 15.
Three days and two nights of holiday activities for the entire family, including an electric light parade, fireworks display, music, dance performances, real snow, gift market and much more. Holiday Lights on Friday, Dec. 13
Holiday Lights kicks off with a tree lighting ceremony with the Scottsdale Mayor, live entertainment, Santa, children’s favorite costume characters roaming the plaza, carousel rides, and train rides through a festive lighted displays.  Event starts at 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. nightly from Dec. 13 – Jan. 4 (event closed Dec. 24, 25, & 31).  Santa at the park from Dec. 13 – 23.  For detail information please call 480-312-2312 or visit www.therailroadpark.com.

Watercolors and fall colors

Not an artist? Not to worry! Join our talented Steward, Ronnie Wainwright, as we learn the basics of watercolor while enjoying the breathtaking views of the cottonwoods in their fall color. After testing our artistic talents, we will take a hike through the spectacular cottonwoods and saguaros.

Moderate hike with one short, steep hillside climb; approximately 1.5 miles long. Note: those who want to paint but are not up for a longer hike may enjoy the first part of the morning with a hike of approximately 0.5 miles on a relatively flat trail.

Christ Anglican Church Christmas services
On Christmas Eve, Dec. 24 at 5 and 9 p.m. Christ Anglican Church offers a candlelight service, with carols and hymns. For children 3 years and under, the Church will open its nursery at 5 p.m.

3rd Annual Carefree Indian Market & Cultural Festival is free
Native American art and crafts exhibitors, plus music and dance performances, all woven throughout a four-acre cactus botanical garden. Food and beverages are available at the Native American and Southwestern Food Court. Performers include world-champion Hoop Dancers Brian Hammill and Moontee Sinquah, as well as other musicians and entertainers.
