The FCF-MindQuest Lectures Series continues its 2013-2014 season with a look back in history.

The 2014 debut speaker on January 21 is author and historian Andrei Cherny who will speak on the untold history of the Berlin Airlift, one of the great military and humanitarian successes of American history.  He will share how our armed forces captured the hearts of America’s defeated enemy, inspired people around the world to believe in America, avoided WW III, and won the greatest battle of the Cold War….without firing a shot.

Dr. David Beyda, the 2013 recipient of a humanitarian award by the AMA will speak on February 18, 2014 on the topic of Medical Ethics in the Third World.  He is professor of pediatrics and director of global health for the UA College of Medicine in Phoenix.

Popular ASU Professor Tim McGuire from the Cronkite School of Journalism will round out the year discussing what the chaos of the digital age does to traditional media and the search for truth.  Given all the technological advancements providing immediate access to Internet information via iPhone, iPad, twitter and blogs, how do you evaluate what is true and what is good reporting?  Mark your calendar for March 4, 2014.

A special engagement is offered to season subscribers of MindQuest and the Desert Foothills Theater at no charge and to the public at a discount on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 when Emmy award winning choreographer and musical director Dee Dee Wood will present How I Fell in Love…..with Dance.  She’ll entertain with her personal story in dance and theater.  Not to be missed.

All lectures begin at 7 p.m. and include coffee and dessert beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the FCF-Holland Community Center located at the corner of 60th Street and Carefree Highway.  Tickets are transferable and make great gifts.  Register now online at http://www.azfcf.org/mindquest_lectures.html or call 480-488-1090 to order by phone.
