Scottsdale community members can attend a pair of workshops to help define areas for future growth and to provide ideas for strengthening the economy.

Two sessions will be held -- 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at the Community Design Studio, 7506 E. Indian School Road. Participants can attend either session - identical information will be presented at both. These are the fourth in a series of workshops being held as part of the 2014 General Plan process.

Registration is required and is available here.

The workshop's format begins with a presentation on economic development and trends, followed by a gallery of maps and informational boards related to economic vitality and growth. This will be followed by a small group "café-style" dialogue on questions also pertaining to economic vitality and growth.

The "cafe conversation" is designed to encourage open group dialog by providing an inviting and familiar environment, akin to sitting around a kitchen table or enjoying a meal at a favorite restaurant. What types of jobs should Scottsdale attract? Are there areas of the city where growth should be focused? These are just some of the questions that will be explored in the two upcoming General Plan workshops focused on Scottsdale's Economy and Growth Areas.
