More taxes?

On the heels of tax day, the next piece of legislation on the Senate floor will be one that allows states to tax businesses that aren’t even within their borders. This bill would allow states to tax online sales from companies in other states, shifting the tax collection burden onto out-of-state businesses. It’s a bad, convoluted policy and one free market advocates should oppose.

Email your Senator to tell them to stop the Internet sales tax burden.

The so-called Marketplace Fairness Act has serious logistical, economic and constitutional flaws.

Even the Supreme Court has ruled that states can’t tax companies that aren’t located in their borders and don’t have a sufficient nexus (such as a distribution center). The cost of complying with the Internet sales tax would be an enormous burden on businesses, especially small businesses.

To make matters worse, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is fast-tracking the bill to the Senate floor in order to limit debate. Senators haven’t even held a committee hearing yet. Bills of this magnitude should go through to the normal committee process – not be rushed to the Senate floor.

Tell the Senate to stop the Internet sales tax burden

Obama, guns and abortion

Did you happen to catch how angry President Obama was with the turnout of the Senate vote on greater gun regulation? Did you notice how disappointed VP Biden looked and sounded. I, on the other hand, was happy Senators had the courage to stand up for the Constitution and not cave in to political correctness.
I don't own a gun but believe people have a right to have them in order to protect themselves against the likes of the Boston Marathon terrorists.

It's been said criminals will always get guns, right?

My real beef with the Obama administration, however, is how it can look Americans in the eyes and tell us that we must have greater gun control in order to protect our children, all the while avidly supporting abortion!

This quote from Mother Teresa sums up the Democratic Party: "Many people are very, very concerned with the children of India, with the children of Africa where quite a few die of hunger, and so on. Many people are also concerned about all the violence in this great country of the United States. These concerns are very good. But often these same people are not concerned with the millions who are being killed by the deliberate decision of their own mothers. And this is what is the greatest destroyer of peace today – abortion which brings people to such blindess."

There you have the Democratic Party in a nutshell! Seemingly concerned for the poor and peace, all the while supporting abortion! Go figure!

Sincerely,

Where did 90 percent originate?

“The American people are trying to figure out, how can something have 90 percent support and yet not happen?”  ~ Barack Obama

A far better question is where did this 90 percent originate?  Did we vote?  Did we participate in a poll?  I don’t think so …

Statements from the chief, such as the one above, are the reason he is seen as a liar by many, especially conservatives who don’t see lying as the foundation of public service.

We kept American troops in Afghanistan, being killed for no reason long after the mission was over, yet the Administration cannot or will not secure our borders.  They will not focus on protecting American citizens at home but will allow our enemies to infiltrate our society, enabling them to unleash horrors such as the tragedy in Boston.  Why?  Profiling is not politically correct!  When the time comes to defend your home or family, would you like the supposed 90 percent to dictate how you may do so?

I don’t think so.

How can an administration essentially ignore border security when the overwhelming majority of Americans support it?  There are far more productive things for you to do, Mr. President, and better questions to ask, than to berate fellow elected officials and ignore other needs of the American people.  Abiding by our Constitution and enforcing all of our laws, not just the ones you favor, is why you are President.  Start acting like one.

National security and national debt

Recent events involving North Korea demonstrate the need for a strong defense. If we let the national debt get to the point where all revenue is consumed by interest payments and entitlements, we will be at the mercy of such nations as North Korea and Iran, (maybe eventually China). We would also be more vulnerable to terrorists with WMDs, as we would no longer have the deterrent of being able to trace such WMDs to their country of origin. We must write to our elected officials about all this.

We should urge them to stop deficit spending, and adopt budgets that will pay down the national debt and looming entitlement shortages.

Obama should have let the Sandy Hook Crisis go to waste!

Sadly, Obama's "milking" and callous exploitation of the Sandy Hook Elementary shootings may have come home to roost in the tragic Boston Marathon bombing. One would have to be VERY naive to believe Barrack Hussein Obama II's rhetoric about "getting to the bottom" of this tragedy.

You have already seen his handling of the Fort Hood Massacre, Civilian Trials for terrorists, blocking "Fast and Furious" investigations, and his and Hillary Clinton's no show performance during the Benghazi attack. The ONLY thing this president is excellent at doing is spending money we don't have and unilaterally lowering our nuclear deterrent against our foes. The only thing we know for sure is that Obama and Rahm Emanuel will "never let a good crisis go to waste."

The Boehner Rule

"Listen. It was never a rule to begin with."

That was how House Speaker John Boehner responded to a questionabout violating the so-called "Hastert rule" in order to pass Democrat-supported legislation on guns and the budget.

The rule itself, named after former House Speaker Dennis Hastert states bills will only be brought before the House of Representatives that a "majority of the majority" supports. The problem is, it has been violated numerous times by Boehner since the GOP took the majority away from Democrats in 2010.

For example, a majority of House Republicans against the tax bill that raised taxes on those making $400,000 and above, including many small businesses, legislation that passed.

A majority voted against so-called hurricane "disaster relief" because it was unpaid for and was stuffed with billions in unrelated pork even as it passed with Democrat support.

At the press conference, Boehner went on to assure everyone that "my prerogative — my intention is to always pass bills with strong Republican support."

He has a point. We should not discount the possibility it may be the case that House leaders could conceivably get a majority of Republicans to go along with legislation on guns and wasteful spending. After all, they did not have too many problems getting the votes for the latest continuing resolution, although they needed Democrats to help.

And a majority of Republicans voted to suspend the debt ceiling until May 19 – but they needed Democrats for that vote too, in order for it to pass.

Just like in the vote on the continuing resolution that came before that. Or when the House increased the debt ceiling in 2011.

In fact, one struggles to find a single vote of significance – legislation that became law – that House Republicans did not need Democrats in order to pass.

All of which indicates there is really no opposition party in Washington, D.C., raising the question of why, exactly, voters should even put Republicans into the majority? So Fred Upton can have a nicer office?

If the Republican Party does not stand for anything, then there is no reason for it to be in power except for personal power and perks. This is why the American people are so sickened at the state of things in Washington.

If gun control or some other liberal legislation passes the House, against the wishes of Republican voters who put these representatives into the majority, it will be extremely damaging to the Republican brand. Perhaps irreparably so.

The FairTax Plan

The FairTax Plan is a comprehensive proposal that replaces all federal income and payroll based taxes with an integrated approach including a progressive national retail sales tax, a prebate to ensure no American pays federal taxes on spending up to the poverty level, dollar-for-dollar federal revenue replacement, and, through companion legislation, the repeal of the 16th Amendment. This nonpartisan legislation (HR 25/S122) abolishes all federal personal and corporate income taxes, gift, estate, capital gains, alternative minimum, Social Security, Medicare, and self-employment taxes and replaces them with one simple, visible, federal retail sales tax - administered primarily by existing state sales tax authorities. The IRS is disbanded and defunded. The FairTax taxes us only on what we choose to spend on new goods or services, not on what we earn. The FairTax is a fair, efficient, transparent, and intelligent solution to the frustration and inequity of our current tax system.

Congress fumbles the ball on the economy by continuing to waste more tax dollars they don't have to stimulate the economy. Ask yourself. If the Fair Tax is implemented and every worker in this country receives their full paycheck plus the planned prebate without any deductions, wouldn't that be a tremendous stimulus to the economy? If every business never has to file another tax return and pay income taxes ever again, wouldn't that be a tremendous stimulus? For more information www.fairtax.org or call 1-800-fairtax.

China hacking into U.S. computers*

Based on the activities of Chinese Army Unit 61398, Communist China continues to wage cyber warfare against the U.S. by hacking into the computers of U.S. corporations.

An American computer security firm, Mandiant, completed a study of Unit 61398, and determined most of the attacks on U.S. corporations have emanated from this group. Companies targeted include electric utilities, gas lines and waterworks. The Chinese also attacked the computer security firm RSA, whose systems protect corporate clients and government agencies.

"China steals blueprints, manufacturing processes, strategies and data from our heavy industry companies, satellite and telecommunications corporations and military contractors, including Lockheed Martin, our largest defense contractor."

The biggest concern is the infiltration of systems that control our power grids and other utilities. Unit 61398 broke into Televent Canada, which provides "software to oil and gas pipeline companies and utilities for remote access to valves, switches and security systems. Televent Canada services half the oil and gas pipeline companies in North and South America."

We have to wake up and take action to prevent these Chinese attacks on our corporations, government agencies and infrastructure. Mr. President, please address this problem.

Republican Party 'platform' is a roadmap; lead by it, or follow others

What value is the Republican Party 'Platform' other than a 'piece of paper' when GOP leadership' is shaped and approved from the 'grassroots' of our party, displayed as a roadmap for leaders to follow, but its' precise and detailed values are 'never applied' or 'required'?

Is it possible for the Republican party 'leadership' to return our GOP and our nation back to include a 'common-sense' GOP platform on 'social issues', or is the GOP going to continue downhill and into the sewer?

Will the GOP return to Christian values as our Founding Fathers established in our Constitution? Many others are more than willing to follow the GOP as our party will then expand.

When President Ronald Reagan said to 'Build a big tent', he explained the need to build the Republican party with others who would support similar 'social and fiscal' issues some 80 percent of the time. Support of the issues must be based on 'differing' issues; liberal Democrat party issues v. conservative Republican party issues. President Reagan's 'win' was to persuade others to accept his philosophy; and not for President Reagan, you and/or me to accept theirs.

The Republican party platform and its' 'leadership' must subscribe to 'social, fiscal, and national security' issues; in that order. When the 'social' issues become the forerunner, the other issue concerns follow in the 'right' path; not necessarily so in any other order.

If the GOP 'leadership' continues to degrade the Republican Party based on 'shameful', 'immoral', and/or other 'wasteful spending' on fiscal issues, the Republican party will die and 'many others' will move forward with another "party" based on 'moral, fiscal, and national security' issue values.

Our Republican party does not need 'Republicans In Name Only' (RINO) or any other 'Democrat look-alikes' in our party.

'Main-stream medias' and liberal Democrats steer the 'out-of-control' spending while 'RINO' Republicans join the left-wing Democrats' proposals in crossing the 'political aisle' to vote and accept more additional spending. Secondly, these same legislators prepare and dominate lower social standards. These 'left-wing' agendas are wrong.

It is this 'left-wing' representation that has and is leaving our 'ever-growing' national debt approaching $17 trillion. At the same time, our judiciary, our 'public schools', and our liberal elected and appointed bureaucrats are ignoring and/or disobeying our Constitution, U.S. Code, and our States' General Statutes. Active elected and appointed Democrats and 'Democrat look-alikes' masked as 'RINO' Republicans are guiding our declining communities with more unfeeling, senseless, and lawless activity. Our nation is becoming a 'nation of individuals' as our freedoms slide away from a 'system of laws'.

There is more to being a 'sincere' Republican party candidate than putting an 'R' beside any individual's name. A 'genuine' Republican party candidate will support at least 80 percent of our 'social, fiscal, and national security' issues as defined in our Republican party 'platform'.

The Republican National Committee (RNC) must save our Republican party's 'donor dollars' in providing support for responsible GOP candidates who will support the GOP platform, and to save our USA.

The Republican party 'platform' is a roadmap; lead yourself, or follow others to greatness in America. Help all 'devoted' true Republican party candidates make it happen!
