APS delays decision on 69-kV power line route

CAVE CREEK – Last week, APS Project Manager Richard Stuhan stated APS is delaying the announcement of its decision on the 69-kV power line route until the end of the year.

Stuhan said, due to the volume of feedback received, APS, which stated it would probably make a decision by mid-October during the Aug. 15 open house, wanted to let the public know it will need more time to consider its options regarding the proposed routes.

While APS appreciates all the input received, Stuhan stated the alternate route along Basin Road to Cave Creek Road proposed by the town of Cave Creek is not under consideration and APS is only considering the five routes previously proposed to connect the Cave Creek Substation to the Gavilan Peak Substation.

He also stated burying lines remains an option if the town can find a funding source to offset the additional in cost to stringing overhead lines.
