SCOTUS upholds one of four contested provisions of SB 1070

‘Today’s opinion … deprives states of … the power to exclude from the sovereign’s territory people who have no right to be there’

WASHINGTON – The Supreme Court of the United States invalidated three of the four contested provisions of Arizona’s SB 1070. In a 5-3 split decision with Justice Elena Kagan recusing herself, the court upheld the provision requiring law enforcement officers, after a lawful stop, to make a “reasonable attempt” to investigate the person’s immigration status.   Keep reading ...

Holder, Obama and Napolitano fortified gun running operations in 2009
