Students For Liberty smoking ban protest

SCOTTSDALE – Today Wednesday, March 28, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Students For Liberty groups from all across the valley, including ASU and SCC are hosting an “anti-nanny” event at Scottsdale Community College. They will hand out FREE CIGARETTES in protest.

Over 200 students are expected to attended to protest the absolute smoking ban on all Maricopa Community College Campuses that will take effect this summer. This extreme and unnecessary ban on smoking is just another nanny law that seeks to dictate personal choices.

Students are standing up and taking the lead in the fight for personal freedom. Their message is clear. They are not encouraging smoking, rather they want to have the ability to make their own decisions in their personal lives.

They hope to defeat the belief that it is okay to dictate personal decisions through laws and bans. As a public institution, the Maricopa Community Colleges should be held to a standard that does not alienate certain groups of students. They want the smoking areas to remain on all campuses.

Students For Liberty is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide a unified, student-driven forum of support for students and student organizations dedicated to liberty.
