Stirring of the Steers Festival date announced

CAVE CREEK – The Cave Creek Town Council has announced that the annual Stirring of the Steers Festival will take place on Saturday, July 7, 2012. This is the traditional date for the Feast of Saint Fermin, in Pamplona, Spain, made famous by Ernest Hemingway. The original Cave Creek celebration in 2011 was highlighted by Cave Creek Town Marshal Adam Stein and his three volunteers driving dormant steers and family pet calves in order to get them running after a gaggle of drunken, staggering Papa-Wannabees. The running will begin at 8 p.m. in front of Harold's and terminate in front of town hall. Paramedics will be on duty in case one of the calves requires medical assistance.

Local activist has change of heart on hunting prohibitions

CAVE CREEK – Anna Marsolo, who was instrumental in getting an area of Cave Creek closed to hunting, has had a recent change of heart on the subject. Realizing that hunting is as important to Creekers as their conservation and preservation efforts, Marsolo is currently working with local hunters to petition Arizona Game and Fish to have the area reopened for hunting.

Lurlene to start at Hideaway this Sunday

LURLENE CAVE CREEK – Lurlene, the world-famous trailer court queen, after several interviews with Hideaway owner Mark Bradshaw, has finally landed a gig at the Hideaway in Cave Creek beginning Sunday, April 1.

After recently moving to Petite Acres, the trailer park that shares its driveway with the Hideaway, Lurlene said she always wanted to work at a biker bar and stated, “Living in a trailer right next door to the biker bar where I’ll be working is about as close to Heaven as I can get on Earth.”

Bradshaw said, “I believe Lurlene will add something a little more special and a little different than the usual hot chicks with tattooed behinds you find at every other biker bar.”
