Christmas Fundraiser “The Nativities” to benefit the Foothills Food Bank

You are invited to enjoy a unique holiday experience

Foothills Food Bank is initiating a new Christmas project this year based on a similar project started in Ventura County, Calif. over 16 years ago. “The Nativities” is their very successful program to aid the homeless.

Space has been generously donated at Los Portales Mall, 99 Easy Street, in Carefree during the Carefree Christmas Festival, December 9 – 11, where they will have tables set up displaying a variety of Nativity sets for the public to view. They will be requesting monetary donations from those who visit and enjoy the display. They will also have a decorated tree to bid on as a silent auction item. Viewing times will be Friday, Dec. 9, 5 – 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 10, 3 – 6 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 11, 12 – 3 p.m.

All members of the community are invited to offer to display their unique Nativity sets during the three-day festival. They will make every effort to safeguard your set and will have adequate volunteers on hand to assist in this matter. Your Nativity set will be available for pick up on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 11 from 3 – 5 p.m.

All Nativity sets, large and small, are welcome – hand made by children or adults, exotic, exquisite or primitive!

If you are willing to share your Nativity set, please bring it in 11 a.m. or after on Friday, Dec. 9 along with a brief written description of the set. Please plan for a couple of minutes to complete an insurance disclaimer form.

If you would like to volunteer to help watch over “The Nativities” during one of the three (3 hour) viewing times, please email Karen [email protected], call 480-488-0423 or volunteer in person Friday morning after 11 a.m.

Reminder: In addition to groceries, the food bank is often in need of small personal items such as toothpaste and brush, hair care products, soap, woman’s personal items, hotel toiletries and body lotions – and baby necessities such as large size diapers, formula, body lotions, baby food/cereal, 100% apple juice and diaper rash cream.

You may drop off your donations at 6920 E. Cave Creek Rd. in Cave Creek. Please call 480-488-1145 for hours of operation.

Monetary donations for purchase of these items and groceries if you wish to offer support but are not able to shop can be mailed to Foothills Food Bank, P.O. Box 715, Carefree, AZ 85377.
