MY VIEW

Politics of the presidency

I am glad that Governor Sarah Palin decided to pass. There is no way she could have won in this round although she isn’t going away and will be a factor for a long time in spite of assaults from the left.

Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey has also passed for the umpteenth time. If he had decided to run we would have been blanketed with true and false allegations of wrong doing by the nationwide liberal media.

Note that the moment Texas Governor Rick Perry announced he would run for presidential nomination his college grades were leaked because the grades were not flattering. Compare that with the fact that Obama’s grades and record are sealed and protected by a well-paid attorney.

The public has a right to “transparency,” promised by Obama which was not only not delivered, but hidden from view at great personal or supporter expense.

But Perry suffers from the same delusion that George Bush had and that is, no one can teach me anything since I run a border state. Janet Napolitano also was governor of our border state and what did she know?

Illegals are handy. I remember when I moved to Arizona and asked a friend about the overgrown yard in the house I had just bought in Mesa. He laughed and said “We have a solution for any cheap labor you need. They are called illegal aliens.”

But illegals are also expensive as they also bring disease, drugs and crime to every state they settle in. Not only that, but the federal government has a constitutional obligation to protect our borders. For over 40 years the federal government has winked at the illegal immigration problem and still does. It is way worse now, with Obama and Napolitano teaming up to stop sending illegals back to their home country unless they have exhibited criminal behavior. They are all criminals the day they step across the border from their country to ours without permission.

But sadly, the Republicans vying for the office of president are either wishy-washy or downright for illegal immigration, or worse amnesty. Perry is an absolute loser in that regard and Romney can’t be trusted since he will say anything for votes. Romney is a RINO at best.

Both Rick Santorum and Michelle Bachman are for border protection and against amnesty as well as related gimmes to illegals like the Dream Act.

Newt Gingrich is so soft on illegal immigration and amnesty he is out of the question as a viable candidate.

Herman Cain is aggressively for border protection and strongly against amnesty.

So currently. Cain, Bachman and Santorum are viable candidates from an illegal alien perspective. All three appear to be competent conservatives as well.

The others suffer from lack of characteristics needed to be president and that includes Libertarian Ron Paul.

The issue of what constitutes a viable candidate from a citizenship perspective remains a hot topic which the mainstream media refuses to cover.

Age and Citizenship requirements - US Constitution, Article II, Section 1
No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office that shall not have attained to the age of thirty-five years, and been fourteen years a resident within the United States.

Reading the history of the founding fathers it is clear. One cannot be president unless they are born of parents who are citizens. Although there is much mystery and consternation about whether Obama was born in Hawaii or Kenya, the issue is clear and simple. One parent cannot be a foreigner when a couple have a baby which qualifies for the president of the United States. So regardless of where Obama is born the fact his father was Kenyan makes him ineligible. The issue of Barack Obama Sr. is covered by Obama Jr. himself in his book although likely not written by himself he admits his father was Kenyan.

But one thing that almost causes a shoe to fly through the television is when Sean Hannity states Mario Rubio will eventually be president. Don’t I wish, however. both his parents are Cuban born eliminating him as it did Arnold Shwartsenegger. Remember when he spoke of having a Constitution revision so he could run for the presidency? That was when his pants were still believed to be zipped.
