Two-vehicle collision sends woman to hospital in critical condition

SCOTTSDALE – At approximately 5 p.m. on Thursday, a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Scottsdale Road and Carefree Highway kept the intersection blocked in all directions during the evening rush hour.

Although the cause of the accident is still under investigation, it appears a woman driving a silver Pontiac westbound on Carefree Highway collided with a black Ford SUV traveling northbound on Scottsdale Road.

The driver of the Pontiac was airlifted to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn with life-threatening injuries.

The occupants of the SUV, which landed upside down in a southbound lane on Tom Darlington Drive on the north side of Carefree Highway, claimed they were uninjured and refused treatment.
