Help celebrate Scottsdale’s 60th birthday

The City of Scottsdale is celebrating 60 years of incorporation in 2011 by promoting 60 days of events and local pride beginning April 25 and culminating with a 60th birthday party on June 25.

This is a community celebration, so groups, organizations, businesses and even individuals who have an event planned between April 25 and June 25 - or are willing to coordinate and conduct a new event - are invited to be part of the celebration.

Interested in participating?  Submit your proposal by April 15 at www.Scottsdale60.com.  If your event is selected, it will be included in the program calendar and publicity, and the event will be authorized to use the official 60th Anniversary logo.

So far the list includes an old-fashioned Cowboy Campfire featuring cowboy singers, musicians, poets and story tellers, a children’s birthday celebration, a public art dedication at the new fire station, art walks in old town, a family scavenger hunt and many more.

Scottsdale’s history is one of innovation. From the first automated trash collection service to the Indian Bend Wash, Scottsdale will be sharing significant innovations from its history throughout the 60th anniversary celebration. The city is also seeking innovations from Scottsdale businesses and organizations. Tell us about local innovations we should be bragging about at [email protected].  The community and its accomplishments will be showcased throughout the anniversary celebration.
