Camille McIver to Bethany College

camille miverLindsborg, Kan. is not exactly your “household” destination. Fly into Wichita then drive an hour north on I-135. Three miles west is Lindsborg (population 3,000). There you’ll find Bethany College (enrollment 600), home of the “Swedes,” so nicknamed because the area was originally settled by Swedish immigrants. Lady Falcons pitching ace Camille McIver didn’t find Bethany College through Athletic Quest, a nationwide recruiting network, Bethany College found her! Camille (above, with parents Susan and Mike McIver and Assistant Head Coach Bill Ferguson, standing in for Head Coach Danica Gianni) recently signed her Letter of Intent to pitch for “Swedes” softball coach Janice Esses, who first contacted McIver last August. Bethany is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and competes in the Kansas City Athletic Conference. Accompanied by Susan, Camille made her “official visit” to Bethany in November. For Camille, the small college environment is a perfect fit. The McIver ladies concur, “Bethany felt like ‘family’ from the start.” Camille, who’ll turn 18 on April 15, will enroll in a pre-med curriculum, the first step in her professional aspiration to become a pediatrician. Coach Gianni praises Camille’s “great attitude and calm nature.” Both will serve “Dr. McIver” well. Congratulations to an outstanding student-athlete! ~ Pete Mohr
