Entries sought for April 9 “Fiesta Days” Parade

33rd Annual Cave Creek Fiesta Days Rodeo & Parade Set for April 6-10

CAVE CREEK – Cave Creek is gearing up for its 33rd Annual Fiesta Days™ Rodeo & Parade, April 6-10, and excitement is already building about this year’s parade.  Arizona’s local celebrity, Sheriff Joe Arpaio, and Cave Creek Mayor Vincent Francia will participate in the event. The festive parade celebrates National Patriotism and takes place on Saturday, April 9 from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. through the Town of Cave Creek.  Event organizers are seeking parade entries no later than Monday, March 28.

Co-presented by the Cave Creek Chamber of Commerce and Desert Foothills Community Association (DFCA), the Fiesta Days Parade draws thousands of people to Cave Creek and provides a unique opportunity to showcase creativity, patriotism and community pride.

fiesta parade“Whether you have a clever idea for a float or you want to share your talent, now is the time to register,” said Jean Glass, secretary of the Cave Creek Chamber of Commerce. “This year’s parade includes 18 different categories ranging from “Best Western” and “Best Marching Band” to “Best Comic” and “Most Patriotic.” Be sure to stay for the awards ceremony at 1 p.m. in front of the gallows at Frontier Town to find out who gets bragging rights for 2011.  After the ceremony, spend the rest of your weekend attending special events around town or head over to the Cave Creek Memorial Arena for the always-popular Mutton Bustin’ competition at 2 p.m., followed by an action-packed Saturday night PRCA rodeo performance at 7 p.m.”

Interested entrants can download a parade application at www.CaveCreekRodeo.com. Completed forms can be dropped off at The Document House, 6217 E. Cave Creek Rd. in Cave Creek, or mailed to: FDR Parade, P.O. Box 4458, Cave Creek, AZ 85327. The cost is $40 per entry.

fiesta days rodeoThe 33rd Annual Fiesta Days Rodeo & Parade kicks off Wednesday, April 6 with a golf tournament and fundraiser at the Rancho Mañana Golf Club. The fun continues throughout the weekend at Cave Creek Memorial Arena with thrilling rodeos and barrel racing featuring top-ranking Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) and Women’s Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA) contestants, Mutton Bustin’ and other fun children’s activities. Rodeo dances with live music will be held both Friday and Saturday nights after each rodeo performance at Harold's Corral in Cave Creek. A special food drive for the Foothills Food Bank will take place throughout the event with food collection bins placed at several locations throughout town and at the rodeo grounds.

Admission to the April 9th Fiesta Days Parade is free, but guests are encouraged to arrive early in order to find the best seats along the parade route along Cave Creek Road.
