Business, business property owners invited to Shea Character Area Plan forum

Business and business property owners are invited to a forum to help define their vision for a geographic region defined as the Shea Character Area plan. The forum will be from 7:30 – 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, at the Boys and Girls Club, 10515 E. Lakeview Drive.

The forum is the first of several public involvement opportunities. This one is specifically designed for business and business property owners. It will include a business perspective overview, economic analysis and café conversations to capture ideas, visions, opportunities and challenges. Business and business property owners are asked to register to attend at www.ScottsdaleAZ.gov.

The General Plan recommends character area planning as a way to define, maintain and/or enhance a desired “character” for a specific area and to maintain the quality of planning and development in Scottsdale.
The Shea Character Area encompasses 22,000 acres in central Scottsdale. The area represents the most populated section of the city – home to about 40 percent of the city’s population. Well-established neighborhoods and commercial developments are found throughout the area and add to its appeal and identity. All major sectors of Scottsdale’s economy are well represented in the area, including the hospitality industry, financial services, business services, research and development and health care.
