william leo nelsonWilliam Leo Nelson, passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2010 at the age of 67, after a brief, but hard fought, battle with cancer.  His last days were spent at home, surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Born on Jan. 2, 1943 in Marietta, Georgia to James D. and Christine D. Nelson, he moved to Phoenix, Arizona six months later.  He has been a resident of Arizona for the remainder of his life, spending the last 25 years in Cave Creek.  He graduated from the University of Arizona in 1968.  While there he was active on campus and was an intramural handball champion.

After completing school, he worked as a salesman and soon thereafter started a successful computer company, Timesharing Techniques.  Finally, in 1989, he followed his love of Mexico and hospitality and opened El Encanto Restaurant in Cave Creek.

Bill had many passions.  He loved the outdoors, hiking, boating, architecture, entertaining, good food and good wine.  He was a generous, loving, and caring man, who cherished spending time with those he loved, especially family.  He excelled at finding the joy in life.
Bill was the most beloved father of four children: Christine, Alex, Jennifer and Lauren; and two grandchildren, Nick and Ella.

A service will be held to celebrate the life of this amazing man on July 1, 2010 at 4 p.m. at the Carefree Resorts Opera House.  Father Mike Herrington will conduct the service.  A reception will follow.

Bill’s remains will be spread in Greer, Arizona, one of his favorite places.
