patriot awardSCOTTSDALE – Sonoran News Publisher/Editor Don Sorchych was surprised when Ryan Ducharme of Republican Professionals presented him with its “Patriot Award” in “recognition of 16 years of Conservative Newspaper Excellence.”

The award was presented to Sorchych at the Republican Professionals’ March 4 event at the White House Bar and Restaurant in downtown Scottsdale, where J.D. Hayworth, who also showed his appreciation for Sorchych, was the featured speaker.

Although Sorchych was unaware he was to be presented with a special recognition award, several others in attendance knew all about it, including Carefree councilmen Bob Coady and Peter Koteas, Carefree Council candidate John Traynor, and Carefree resident Tom Rawles, who said they attended the event primarily to show their support for Sorchych.

Others attending the event included Arch McGill, organizer of the Carefree Tea Party event to be held on March 27 at the Carefree Resort, along with numerous Republican candidates collecting signatures in order to appear on the November 2010 ballot.

Hayworth, who is running against Senator John McCain in one of the most hotly contested races in the country, spoke about his conservative record while in the House of Representatives and recent decision to leave his highly rated talk radio show on KFYI to take on McCain with a mission to protect our American way of life.
