Long-lost daughter comes to visit

CAVE CREEK – Sonoran News played a significant role in helping reunite long-time Cave Creek character Frank “Frankie” Barathy with the daughter he hadn’t seen in 23 years for the holidays this year.

Francis Robin Barathy, who lives in Honolulu, Hawaii, arrived in Cave Creek Monday to spend the holidays with her father, who locals may recognize as the man who walks up and down Cave Creek Road regularly with his dog Cody.

Francis had been looking for her father since the mid-1980s. She found out he lived in Cave Creek when she read a story about the Foothills Caring Corps mobile meal program, which was published in Sonoran News this fall.

A local businesswoman, who is a friend of the 83-year-old Barathy, made the Christmas reunion possible by giving Francis frequent flyer miles so she could come to Arizona for the holidays. Father and daughter enjoyed several nice dinners and the time to get to know one another again in Francis’ time in Cave Creek.

Adding to Barathy’s unexpected holiday pleasures this year is contact from a long lost son from Grand Rapid, Michigan who said he has also been searching for him.

Barathy is so excited by the contact with his two children he now wants to find his other daughter, who he also hasn’t seen for 23 years.
