Cactus Shadow’s Shadowbox Players to premiere Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice”

CAVE CREEK – Cactus Shadows High School’s Theatre Department’s Shadowbox Players, will be premiering their fall performances of the classic English romance, Pride and Prejudice, this Thursday evening, Oct. 23, 2008. The Shadowbox Players have chosen to present Jon Jory’s adaptation of the classic tale of the prideful Mr. Darcy, the prejudiced Elizabeth Bennet, and the love that slowly blooms between the two.

Cherish The Ladies celebrates traditional Irish music, dance
SCOTTSDALE – Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts will present the enchanting Celtic ensemble Cherish the Ladies on Oct. 30 at Theater 4301 in downtown Scottsdale.
Named for a traditional Irish jig, Cherish the Ladies initially won recognition as the first and only all-women, Irish-American Celtic band. In a relatively short time, the group's members soon established themselves as musicians and performers without peer. With its unique blend of virtuosi instrumental talents, beautiful vocals, captivating arrangements and stunning step dancing, this powerhouse group combines all the facets of traditional Irish culture and puts them forth in an immensely humorous and entertaining package.
Foothills Academy’s 5th Hour Band rocks the house
SCOTTSDALE – Visit Foothills Academy College Preparatory in north Scottsdale after lunch and you’ll find, among the many students engaged in a variety of elective classes, a group of nine high school students fully engaged in the business of “making music.” This enthusiastic band of sophomores, juniors, and seniors gather on a daily basis to practice the instrumentals and vocals for songs they’ve chosen to learn as a group. Once they’ve practiced and perfected their musical selections, the group performs at Foothills Academy’s Friday morning assemblies.
