John Crane is a longtime Carefree resident who has served our town with honor and distinction as councilman and currently as vice mayor. His credentials are impeccable. He has intimate knowledge of Carefree history from its early beginnings to the present day. Vice Mayor Crane has a clear understanding of why Carefree residents choose to reside in this beautiful location.
John’s experience as a US Navy submarine officer, businessman, town council member and current vice mayor makes him eminently qualified to lead Carefree into the future. His vigorous ongoing efforts to balance responsible land use with a fully transparent, community-centered approach to economic development are crucial to our way of life.
Recently, John served as our advisor and chief liaison with town officials and other selfless professionals inside and outside our community to restore the beautiful artistic sunburst to its rightful place on our cherished majestic sundial.
Once again, with John’s Vice Mayor Crane’s service to Carefree through the years is simply remarkable. The scope of his contributions to our town is voluminous: participation in cleanups atop Black Mountain including fire prevention and educational outreach annual support and dedication to our veterans in so many ways member of Desert Foothills Land Trust, dedicated to protection and preservation of precious open spaces tireless support and perseverance to connect all Carefree residents to the Carefree Water Company constant promotion of town core businesses supervision of arts and crafts shows, antique car and aircraft shows
