Shawn Timothy Solon: 1976 – 2022

Shawn Timothy Solon, born December 9, 1976 in Phoenix, AZ. He passed away May 30, 2022, in Colorado Springs, CO. where he resided for the past 12 years. Shawn grew up in Cave Creek, AZ, attending Cave Creek Elementary and Cactus Shadows High School graduating with the class of 1995.

Shawn served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps where he earned several decorations, medals, and badges and was honorably discharged in 1999. He received his bachelor’s degree in education from Georgia State University in 2007 and received his master’s degree from University of Colorado in Colorado Springs. He was a dedicated teacher to his second, fourth and fifth grade students throughout his 15-year teaching career, often responding to students’ phone calls for help while at the dinner table or in the evenings.

Shawn was a talented cook and was happiest in front of a grill. He loved the outdoors, hiking, backpacking, camping and skiing, and loved to share these activities with his family. Hard rock music was an integral part of his life from an early age; he played in a band with his brothers and drew album covers using his considerable artistic talent. Shawn had a heart for service and regularly helped his siblings, neighbors and friends with projects – always happy to lend a helping hand. Perhaps his most memorable trait was his wicked sense of humor.

Shawn is survived by his children, Avery, and Andrew; his ex-wife, Angela; his father, Donald and step-mother, Mary who reside in Anthem, AZ; his brothers Brett, Kevin and Brian and his sister, Shannon; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles also survive.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Sharon.

A celebration of life is being planned for July 16 in Colorado Springs

“Leaving, I hate to see you cry
Grieving, I hate to say good-bye
Dust and ash forever
Though I know we must be parted
As sure as stars are in the sky
I’m gonna see when it comes to glory”
