Eileen Wright announces candidacy for Cave Creek Mayor

As your Mayor, I will provide the change in leadership needed to protect and preserve Cave Creek’s most rugged and beautiful desert as it grows into the future.

We know that change is inevitable, but the urbanization of Cave Creek is not an option. I will ensure that new development conforms to our Town Code, Zoning Ordinances and our General Plan.
No exceptions!
The four pillars of my candidacy are:

  • Consider the absolute essential resource of water in every decision I make. Our water has not always been safe!
  • Make only changes that improve our rural low-density lifestyle
  • Reduce the town’s out-of-control borrowing and spending, the town employees; the town vehicles; and legal expenses.
  • Promote limited but responsible government with no property tax.

We can’t ever let up on our commitment to public safety.

As a former Councilwoman, I introduced important legislation such as a Multi-Year Financial Management Plan, Drought Preparedness Plan, Water Banking and a Code of Conduct. I also authored a Water Resource Guide based on my extensive training from CAP and ADWR for the council’s use.

My political experience started at a young age working beside my father who was the Speaker of the House and Republican candidate for governor.

I have dedicated years to serving Cave Creek. As the Vice-Chairman of the Planning Commission, I spent an inordinate amount of time on our Specific Area Plan which was designed to protect our residents.

I earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New Mexico and am a teacher by profession. I was named an “All American Triathlete” and competed as a member of “Team USA” across North America; owner/instructor of Desert Firearms Training Center with advanced training in hostage survival, combat focused shooting and home defense. (What an incredible leadership experience teaching others how to survive).

Thirty years ago, the Cave Creek Citizens’ Council adopted as one of its visions for our community that our elected leaders would be “… visionary and responsible, examine issues carefully and impartially, observe the law, remain accountable, provide an example and motivate others.” Nothing has changed! I wholeheartedly adopt and agree with this vision statement and will implement it as your mayor.

On March 18, 2020, our mayor abused his emergency powers and shut down Cave Creek businesses. I would not abuse the emergency powers of the mayor, but rather respect the rights of all Cave Creek residents to make the best decisions for themselves.

It’s time for dedicated leadership in Cave Creek.
I believe that I am the most knowledgeable, educated and qualified candidate for Mayor.
Cave Creek’s rural lifestyle is unequaled…help me preserve what we have now and plan for the future.
