SWAT Team training raises alarm

(Editor’s note: Sonoran News received some telephone calls from local residents indicating there was some kind of tactical response in a vacant building at N. Scottsdale Road and E. Carefree Highway (a vacant supermarket, formerly Albertson’s.) Upon arrival, Sonoran News discovered it was a Scottsdale PD training operation. SPD was contacted for a brief summary of what kind of training operation this was, as well as any other information local residents may find useful, and put their minds at ease.)

Our SWAT Team is using that location as a training site today.  We routinely use vacant buildings and businesses for our training as it provides a realistic real world training environment. All of todays training is being held inside the building and there should be little to no impact to the surrounding area. We appreciate the communities interest and hope that no one was inconvenienced, as this type of training is paramount to our ability to provide highest level of police service possible.”
