Storykids Family Storytime

Children 2-6 and families are encouraged to join us for a 30-45 minute storytime featuring music, movement, craft & stories. Siblings are welcome. July 16th will be a special Reach for the Stars storytime event with special guest, Fairy Godmother. Replacing storytime on July 30th will be a Glow in the Dark Craft Program & Summer Reading Wrap Up.

Baby & Toddler Lapsit

Geared to children 10 months to 3 years, join us for a fun 25-minute romp with music, books, rhymes, fingerplays, and bubbles. There will be no storytime July 4th as the library will be closed.

Youth Events

Monday July 8, 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Discovery Playdate: Preschool Playtime

Discovery playdate is unstructured playtime for children up to age 6 at Desert Foothills Library. This constructive free play is a great time to socialize with other children. Activities will rotate and include several of the following: sensory activities, water table, building toys and manipulatives, STEM and technology toys, board books, art activities, and games.  No registration necessary.

Silly Sandwiches & Stories

Get silly as we pair sandwiches with stories at this spectacular snack time event. For children of all ages, we will be making a Frankenstein Free-for-All Sandwich, S’more Sandwich, and Taco! Call (480) 488-2286 to register.

Join your Fairy Godmother for a spacetastic storytime with magic and more! Enjoy stories about the stars and rocketship travel at this fun storytime event. Constellation Cookies & More

Teens 11+ are invited to join us for our summer book club event! We will be making black out poetry and collage, enjoying a “book tasting,” and selecting our book club titles for the fall.

Astrology 101 for Teens

Let the stars align! Learn about the signs of the zodiac from an astrologer, and learn about where the planets were in the sky on your birthday and how that affects your life and personality. Ages 11+

Block Party: Build With Legos in the Library

Build from your imagination! This program for school age children and their siblings is an hour of lego building and free play. No registration necessary.

Galaxy Yoga Storytime

Space out and tune in at this yoga storytime. No experience necessary, but come dressed to move! There will be stories, songs and yoga poses for children and their parent or caregiver. No registration necessary.

Teen Cupcake Wars: Decorating & Contest

Stories in the Stars Performance

Soar through the stars in this performance based on the Greek Myths! Travel the night sky and explore various constellations and legends about why there are in the sky. Audiences will delight in learning stories of the wind, seasons, sun, and moon. This new play is designed for the Summer Reading theme “A Universe of Stories”. Spirit Camp: Summer Mindfulness Camp

Join wellness experts Dr. Benenson and Sharon Spector for this camp at Desert Foothills Library. Children ages 7-11 will deepen their inner awareness through singing, dancing, crafts, and storytelling. They will learn how to develop inner super powers by learning mindfulness activities, especially focus, kindness, and taming emotions.
