Millions of dollars in unclaimed property in Arizona

There’s quite a bit of unclaimed property in Arizona. Ten of these unclaimed properties have a combined value of $1.1 million. If the rightful owner does not come forward, the state will be able to keep all the assets legally.

According to the Arizona Department of Revenue, the property values range from from $5,000 to $500,000.

“Under current legislation, a person has 35 years to make a claim for unclaimed property,” said a spokesman from the department, Ed Greenberg.

The types of properties include safe-deposit boxes and payroll checks. The Arizona Department of Revenue has been attempting to reach the owners, but they were unable to.

“Family members for that person can make a claim, and then we can go through the process with them,” Greenberg said. “They are entitled to that property.”

To claim the possessions, family members must have identification and proof of relation to the owner. To see if you or family members have any unclaimed property, follow the link for more information https://doa.az.gov/unclaimed-property.
