Progress being made on Cave Creek’s water infrastructure

Wear and tear and corrosion are evident on the old piece of equipment in the foreground while its replacement waits on the truck to be lowered down into the vault.

Pumping stations that move water from the Central Arizona Project to Cave Creek are located in underground vaults and have be accessed through manholes. All pieces have to be small enough to fit through the holes and space for workers is limited in the vaults. Ventilation is provided by the large yellow hose in the right of the picture to prevent the buildup of carbon dioxide or other gasses.
