Business as usual

The Carefree Town Council meeting, held on Dec. 4, was pretty much business as usual.

The Consent Agenda contained typical approvals – this time for Special Events at Our Lady of Joy Catholic Church on Jan. 12, 2019 and March24, 2019 and for a Fair/Festival license application by Diamond Distillery in conjunction with the Thunderbird Art & Wine Festivals, to held on Jan. 18-19, 2019 and March 1-3, 2019.

Moving on to the Regular Agenda, Mayor Peterson opened with presentations regarding both the Carefree Christmas Festival and Carefree Hanukkah and Pam Pietro regarding the Foothills Food Bank. No action was taken.

Three new employment contracts were approved:

– Municipal Judge of the Carefree/Cave Creek Consolidated Court.

– Town Prosecutor

– Carefree Town Administrator.

Carrying over from the last meeting, a Special Event Application for “Rock The District” on April 12-13, 2019, was approved to include street closures.

Lastly,Ordinance 2018-07, an amendment addressing Comprehensive Sign Plans that allows for “flexibility, innovation and improved aesthetics for signage in Carefree” was approved.

Next month’s meeting has been moved to one week later, Jan. 8, at5:00pm.
