CSHS basketball contributes holiday efforts

Cactus Shadows High School’s varsity basketball outing met at Light of The Desert church where approx. 2,500 shoebox sized boxes needed to be packaged into large boxes and moved into a freight truck. The boxes have everything from toys to toiletries, things taken for granted – and are being shipped all over the globe for kids and families to enjoy during the holidays. These boxes make a huge impact on some of these kids that don’t get toys, toothbrushes etc. but maybe once a year – have ended up in the Sudan, the Philippines, etc., simply to help out families in need.

This past summer, they also did a back to school drive partnered with the Phoenix rescue mission, collecting notepads, pencils, paper, erasers, etc. and filled two large boxes dropped off for the rescue mission. Those supplies filled backpacks to give out to kids that needed them for school.

“We always do things like this throughout the year, it’s part of making an Impact in the community. Along with sending a great message, teaching life lessons,  and helping those out in need, it’s also a great team bonding outing.” – coach Zach Washut
