The 100th anniversary of the end of World War I also marked the 10th year Carefree has had a ceremony honoring veterans. Those gathered at the Sanderson Lincoln Pavilion saluted those who served with a variety of speakers, and both patriotic and toe tapping music.

Retired submariner Captain Richard Noreika led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Ashley Walker, a student at Cactus Shadows sings the Star Spangled Banner.
Sweets and treats with a patriotic flair were shared with the crowd.
Barbara Hatch of Veterans Heritage Project takes the podium with Cave Creek Unified School District students displaying the many volumes of history from the mouths and hearts of veterans, captured and written by students.
The Main Event Band entertained all ages with a broad variety of tunes from the 40’s to today.
