Tribute paid to former Vice-Chairman

There was a very somber start to the July meeting of Cave Creek’s Planning and Zoning Commission. Commission members, some with tears in their eyes, paid tribute to Dick Frye, the Commission’s Vice-Chairman who recently passed away due to complications following heart surgery. To honor his memory, flowers and a photo of him with his wife occupied his place at the Council desk. Those in attendance were also asked to join in a moment of silence to honor him.

What originally looked to be a full agenda quickly shortened as the hearing on the proposed Hampton Inn, and a hearing on changes to sign ordinances, were both put off to the August 16 meeting.

Left on the agenda were changes to ordinances regarding water necessitated by Cave Creek’s water policy, adopted by Town Council in December, 2017. Town staff had searched through Planning and Zoning ordinances to make sure they were in sync with the new water policy. The few discrepancies found were brought before the Commission and after a few tweaks to regulations, the board approved updated ordinances to be sent to the Town Council for final approval.
