Sonoran Trails Middle School, located in the Cave Creek Unified School District, has received Arizona Educational Foundations (AEF) A+ School of Excellence™ award for the 2017-2018 academic year.  STMS was one of 41 schools in the state of Arizona that received this coveted award.

STMS principal, Bill Dolezal said, “When you put together a supportive community, super parents, a passionate staff and awesome students with a focus on learning not only state standards, but also growing psychologically and emotionally, you get a great place for adolescent and adult learners to be – a place like Sonoran Trails Middle School.”

“The A+ School of Excellence™ program celebrates outstanding schools throughout Arizona, calling attention to the positive stories and successes occurring in public schools,” said AEF Executive Director, Bobbie O’Boyle. “The application and evaluation process for this program is comprehensive and rigorous. We applaud these schools for exceeding expectations to meet their students’ needs and for achieving overall success despite the many challenges that face the education community statewide.”

Applicant schools are evaluated in the areas of student focus and support, school culture, active teaching and learning, curriculum, leadership, community and parent involvement and assessment data.

Superintendent, Dr. Debbi Burdick said, “The CCUSD Governing Board and I could not be more proud of our Sonoran Trails Middle School Community.  Our students, parents and staff know the quality and excellence that is a hallmark of this incredible school; and, the renewal of their “A+” reinforces what we see there on a daily basis.  Congratulations to the STMS leadership, staff, parents and students.  We are so proud of you.”

Schools receive $500 and a banner designating them as an A+ School of Excellence™ winner. All staff and their family members at the award-winning schools are eligible for partial scholarships from Argosy University Phoenix. The award is valid for three and a half years. Recognition through the A+ School of Excellence™ program can help increase confidence in Arizona’s public schools and create greater parent and community support.

Sonoran Trails Middle School is the only public school middle school requiring  its students take a World Language – Chinese, French or Spanish – as a core class.  For more information, regarding STMS, please contact Mr. Bill Dolezal, principal, at 480-272-8600 or by emailing [email protected].
