Forced abortion crackdown

Dear Sonoran News:

Thanks goes out to the AZ legislature for passing SB 1394 which helps
prevent forced abortions. The bill, soon to become law, requires abortion facilities to give
reports to state health officials to find out if the abortion is forced or due to medical reasons.  And it also requires the abortionist to ask if she has been a victim of sexual assault, incest domestic violence, or sex trafficking.

Democrat state Senator Katie Hobbs said it’s about harassing and shaming women into having an abortion.  “This vote should have been unanimous by both houses.  It’s unfortunate that those who favor legalized abortion are so blinded by their ideology that they choose to oppose reporting requirements designed to help meet the needs of women and to assist policymakers,” said Cathi Herrod, president of Center for AZ Policy.

With a 2004 study published in Medical Science Monitor showing that 64% of abortions are forced, this is a welcome legislation that will protect women and their babies!
