Fifth Annual Arizona Gives Day scheduled for April 3

Arizona Gives Day has raised over $10 million for Arizona nonprofits over the last 5 years and is once again scheduled to help raise funds on Tuesday, April 3rd.

Arizona Gives Day is a unique statewide campaign that runs during a 24-hour time period that allows businesses and public to donate online to local nonprofits. The special day is to spread awareness on helping to support critical local organizations.

This annual event began in 2013 as a partnership between the Arizona Grantmakers Forum and Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits. “Over $2.7 million was raised last year for participating nonprofits,” Joel Johnson, east valley market president of FirstBank, one of the sponsors of the event, said in a press release.

“This reflected the incredible generosity of Arizonans, and we’re hoping this next ‘Give It Forward’ event will inspire a little more generosity on April 3,” he said.

The Arizona Foundation reported that in 2014, Arizona’s nonprofit sector influenced 8 percent of the state’s gross domestic product, which was more than $22 billion and also created 325,000 jobs.

The Arizona Gives Day will be comprised of more than 1,000 nonprofits, with causes that range from poverty to animal welfare to education. The Arizona Gives’ website allows potential donors to simply enter a zip code or keyword to connect people with a cause they believe in. The site also always donors to find which organizations qualified for tax credits in the state.
