Royalty graces Kiwanis pancake breakfast

Saturday’s Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast got the royal treatment. The Carefree Gardens were even more beautiful than normal as rodeo queens from Flagstaff, Prescott, as well as Miss Rodeo New Mexico, Miss Turquoise Circuit, and Miss Rodeo Arizona joined our own Cave Creek Rodeo Queen Megan Alsever, Cave Creek Rodeo Teen Lily Alsever, and Cave Creek Rodeo Princesses in welcoming the hungry masses. As usual, the Kiwanis Club prepared a fantastic meal of pancakes and sausage with juice and coffee. Over 1800 pancakes were flipped, 1100 sausages were consumed, as well as, 550 cups of coffee, according to Pancake Committee Chair Mike Poppenwimer. He also thanked the many volunteers for putting in so much hard work to make the event a success. The Kiwanis, through the Kiwanis Marketplace, made it possible this year for children 10 and under to attend the rodeo for free.
