According to the National Council for Home Safety and Security, The University of Arizona came in near the bottom of the list of the safest college campuses in America.
Each school’s safety was analyzed on crimes reported by the university. Crimes such as rapes, robberies, assaults, burglaries, car theft, and arsons.
In addition, the NCHSS also looked at violent and property crime rates for the cities in which the schools were located. Factoring into the safety score, along with the number of law enforcement officers employed by the school, per 1,000 students.
UofA was ranked 233 out of 243 schools listed. Two additional Arizona schools also made the list. Arizona State University ranked 187, and Northern Arizona University ranked 156.
The least safe school, according to the list, is University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, while the safest school is BYU-Idaho in Rexburg, Idaho
