Our slogan is Redecorate Recycle Donate Shop!

The Gold Mine Thrift Shop is a charity thrift store located in the heart of Cave Creek, Arizona. Along with 25 monetary charities, including the Foothills Food Bank, Horses Help and Foothills Caring Corps (all a part of the Good Shepherd of the Hills Outreach program), the Gold Mine continues a rich tradition of providing service and physical merchandise to those in need.

70 Years of Service

The Gold Mine Thrift Shop turns 70-years-old this year. Originally housed in the Good Shepherd of the Hills parish, the Gold Mine served the needs of the community and the fund various mission work.

Skip ahead 70 years, with a team of dedicated volunteers, the Gold Mine is still ministering to our neighbors needs and raising funds for over 27 charities.

Much of the Gold Mine’s success hinges on the community: our core of dedicated local shoppers and donors. With everything from designer handbags to work clothes, the Gold Mine becomes the local one-stop-shop. Relying strictly on donated items, you never know what treasure you’ll find!

One gentleman, after dropping off donations and asking for more information on the charities, called the Gold Mine a “little engine that could.” Besides the monetary donations, the Gold Mine supplies clothing and household goods to those in need, provides blankets and towels for animal shelters across the state and becomes the hub of disaster relief contributions.

Gold Mine staff and volunteers are ready to hand out hugs and listen. Volunteers provide in-home services, including managing a household of donations, estate sale services and assisting when a spouse needs help cleaning out the closet of a loved one.

Everyone loves a bargain and a treasure hunt. In the end, however, Gold Mine Manager Lena Jo McCoy feels the success of the shop doesn’t lie in things, but in people.
