TEMPE Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) publicly endorsed Dr. Kelli Ward in the 2018 Arizona GOP primary in his appearance this morning on Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom.”

“As a fellow physician, Dr. Ward witnessed firsthand the damage Obamacare has inflicted on our nation’s healthcare system,” said Sen. Paul. “As senator, she will bring a new voice and a fresh perspective to the Senate. Likewise, her record as state senator in Arizona shows that she served her constituents admirably and was not beholden to lobbyists or special interests. This is what we need more of in Washington, D.C. I support her candidacy for the U.S. Senate.”

Dr. Ward thanked Sen. Paul for his endorsement, saying their shared love of liberty, limited government and the constitution will help form the foundation for a great working relationship in the U.S. Senate.

“I could not be more pleased to receive the support and endorsement of Sen. Rand Paul,” said Ward. “I have respected Sen. Paul for years for his unwavering positions on limited government and fiscal conservatism. The time is ripe for new freedom-loving conservatives to join Sen. Paul in the U.S. Senate in the fight to defend our Constitution. I look forward to working with him on issues like fixing our national debt, securing our borders and repealing Obamacare.”

Dr. Kelli Ward is the leading GOP candidate to replace retiring Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake in the U.S. Senate in 2018. On Aug. 17, President Trump lent his support to Ward via Twitter. Ward has also received endorsements from conservative champions Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity and Mark Levin. Ward’s campaign enjoyed a surge of national and in-state support and visibility after announcing the addition of former Ronald Reagan campaign manager, Ed Rollins, to the position of campaign chairman.
