Cities & Towns Week is celebrating its 16th year. Cities and towns work 24/7, 365 days a year to provide services to our citizens. Arizona cities and towns ensure safety, protection, well-being, convenience and enrichment for all citizens to live, work and play in their communities. Take time this week to learn about the services and programs cities and towns provide.

Police Crisis Response canine Fozzie dies. Fozzie holds the distinction of being the nation’s first full-time Police Crisis Response dog and was a pioneer for public safety agencies. During his career, Fozzie responded to homicides, suicides, fatal crashes, sexual assaults, domestic violence scenes and other critical incidents, providing comfort for people experiencing their worst day imaginable.

HGTV’s “Property Brothers” showcase Maricopa County Home Show: Oct. 20-22. Experience Pinterest-inspired workshops, a holiday shopping marketplace, and more than 1,000 booths showcasing flooring, closets, shutters, lighting, doors, landscaping, pools and more. The show takes place at WestWorld.

Scottsdale Arts celebrates Family Day Oct. 21. Explore and learn, and create and celebrate at this year’s free Family Day from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art. Activities will include pop-up family yoga, a look-and-touch table; arts-and-craft activities and a photo booth. Visitors also can explore the museum galleries and installations using a see-and-sketch activity sheet.

Have a frighteningly fun time at Scottsdale’s Fall Festival. Take a trip through the Haunted Forest, win candy at the game booths and tot area and enter one of the many costume contests! End the evening with a bang by staying for a fi­reworks show. The free event takes place from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, on the Eldorado Park ballfields.

Forget bobbing for apples; try dunkin’ for a pumpkin. Pumpkins float! Join us from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, at the heated McDowell Mountain Ranch pool. Pick a pumpkin, then decorate it. Admission is $10 per person and includes a pumpkin – while supplies last.
