Fort Huachuca Law Enforcement, Border Patrol stop human smuggling attempt

TUCSON –Border Patrol agents assigned to the Brian A. Terry Station assisted Fort Huachuca’s law enforcement personnel in arresting three people and seizing a vehicle during a human smuggling attempt on Sunday evening near Sierra Vista, Arizona.

Fort Huachuca officials encountered a 2017 Ford Fusion, driven by a U.S. citizen from Laughlin, Nevada, with two male passengers, near an entrance of the Army post and called the Border Patrol to assist in their investigation.

Agents determined that the passengers, ages 42 and 37, were Mexican nationals illegally present in the country. Subsequently, the illegal aliens were arrested for immigration violations and the 42-year-old driver was arrested for human smuggling.

Following the arrest, agents searched the vehicle and discovered fake law enforcement equipment, to include a realistic-looking handgun that fires BBs, and fraudulent federal identifications bearing the drivers information and photo. Agents seized the contraband while the vehicle was impounded by the fort’s law enforcement officials.
