Now more than ever before, Carefree Town Hall is welcoming an all-out assault on pristine desert landscape. It seems they hung out a shingle inviting all high-density developers to join the party. At the September Council meeting, now scheduled for 8/29, the Council will be presented a new (revised?) Development Agreement for the Ed Lewis south parcel. The word is that now a new developer (hmmm, I wonder) intends to build over 120 ‘luxury’ rental apartments. Sounds to me like another bite at the 60-70 foot height golden apple. No P&Z review, just Neiss behind the scenes pulling Council strings. By a simple yes vote majority of the Council, Napoleon wins. I predict a 6-1 or 5-2 vote. And, it’s still summer… I wonder if a 60 or 70 foot monstrosity will have any effect on the world famous Sun Dial.
