Rollover results in apprehension of 5 Mexican Nationals and 2 U.S. citizens

Rollover

TUCSON – Willcox Border Patrol agents witnessed a rollover accident on Interstate 10 near mile post 322 and, while providing aide, discovered the vehicle was involved in smuggling humans.

Agents were travelling west on I-10 when they observed a dust cloud and noticed a white pickup truck upside down. The agents turned around to provide immediate aide and called for additional assistance from both Border Patrol and local emergency medical technicians.

Once on scene, agents found seven individuals had been traveling in the truck. While rendering aid, agents learned that five of the occupants were Mexican nationals illegally present in the United States and two were United States citizens.

Medical personnel assessed the five Mexican nationals on scene but only one required further evaluation at a hospital. The two male U.S. citizens asked to also be taken to a hospital for further evaluation.

Agents seized the truck and arrested the Mexican nationals, who will be processed in accordance with Tucson Sector guidelines. The two U.S. citizens, however, face prosecution for smuggling.

CBP welcomes assistance from the community. Citizens can report suspicious activity to the Border Patrol by calling 1-877-872-7435 toll free. All calls will be answered and remain anonymous.
