CAVE CREEK – Because it’s primarily consignment, fans of Red Truck Trading Company know to stop in often because they never know what unique treasures they will uncover. But the matriarch of this family owned and operated business, Louann Robertson, said, “We’re adding new things! We want to be the one-stop shop for all your décor needs.” In addition to the various consignment offerings that change daily, customers will find handbags – from Bandana and American West. Bandana bags range from $50 to $80, whereas American West is between $200 and $300, so there’s something for everyone. They are cute yet practical. Don’t forget to pair your purse with a piece of jewelry, also offered at Red Truck.
Robertson has found a plethora of goodies for the kitchen – placements, towels (several crafted from flour sack material), potholders, napkins. And for the bedroom – pillow covers, bedspreads. Priced under $100, they are the perfect weight for Arizona and oh-so-eye-catching in geometrics and horse motifs. “People love them. They buy one and come back for more.”
No matter what you need for home or gift ideas, Red Truck delivers! “While we have a lot of western and southwest furniture, we take in all styles, so you really never know what you’ll find,” Robertson reiterated.
Another reason Red Truck has a following is because neighbors know they can shop then eat at Grotto Café. It’s undergone a total kitchen remodel, making turnaround faster for diners and more efficient for staff. Robertson’s son, Curtis Arny, said he’s never seen so many regulars as he has at Grotto. (That’s saying a lot since his background stems from the corporate restaurant world.)
The breakfast and lunch menus have been well embraced, but they will be expanding. Already added is French toast, an immediate hit courtesy of its yummy sauces. Another new fave – strawberry feta salad. There’s something for everyone, including a full bar.
Remember, you can rent out the place (a small wedding was recently hosted) or have a catered event on the premises.
