Spring Activity Registration Starts Dec. 5

Recreation BrochureNow is the perfect time to sign up for one of our Tennis, Swimming, Art, Dance, Majong or other classes! We have a wide variety of activities for the entire family. Registration starts Dec. 5 at 7 a.m. for Scottsdale residents and Dec. 6 at 7 a.m. for non-residents.

Our program guide can be found on our website, or you can use our online registration system to search for the class you want.

Holiday Lights at the Railroad Park

Holiday LightsThe McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park lights up Scottsdale with one of the most unique holiday event in the Valley. Take a ride on the Paradise & Pacific Railroad through a winter wonderland of lights and displays. Opening night festivities on Dec. 9 include live music, a tree lighting ceremony and a visit from Santa, who is at the park nightly through Dec. 23.

Train rides on the Paradise & Pacific Railroad are $4 and rides on the Charros Carousel are $2. Children two and under ride free with a paying adult.

‘Long Course’ Swimming at Cactus Pool

Cactus Aquatic Center is hosting winter break “long course” swimming sessions Dec. 17-31. Long courses are defined as 50-meter long lanes.  Cactus Pool has 8 long course lanes. According to Swimming World magazine, swimming long course creates endurance and builds toughness.

Long course is popular, so check Cactus Pool’s schedule for lane availability by visiting www.ScottsdaleAZ.gov and searching “Cactus Pool.”

New Playgrounds at  Indian School Park 

The playgrounds at Indian School Park are now open for you and your family to enjoy! There are two new play areas: one for those aged 2- 5; and one for ages 5 – 12. The tree-house themed structures include slides, climbing walls, interactive play panels and even a piano keyboard! There are two new swing structures as well, one has bucket swings for tots and the other has belt swings for the older kids to enjoy.
