Zika Virus Update

The Numbers:

Zika Case Count: As of November 16, there were more than 36,300 confirmed cases of Zika virus in U.S. States and Territories.

  • 4,255 confirmed cases of Zika in U.S. States and District of Columbia.
  • 32,068 confirmed cases of Zika in U.S. Territories.

Pregnant women with evidence of Zika virus: As of November 10, there were more than 3,500 pregnant women with evidence of Zika virus.

  • 1,087 pregnant women in U.S. States and District of Columbia.
  • 2,451 pregnant women in U.S. Territories.

  • FDA research to help speed development of Zika virus vaccines and therapeutics: On Thursday, FDA announced that a new mouse model developed by scientists at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration may help in exploring the potential activity of Zika virus vaccines and therapeutics.
